TRAINING TIPS FOR PARTNER WORKOUTS
Two is better than one, especially when it comes to training. Having a partner to cheer you along, push you when you’re struggling, and keep you accountable can help you take your training to the next level. Use the tips below to maximize your partnership and your training. If you’re killing it working out on your own, great job! You can still use some of these tips to improve your own routine.
Train anytime, anywhere
You don’t need the gym or even a field to fit in a great workout. All you need is a little space and some motivation. Keep it simple with bodyweight movements, such as squats, lunges, or pushups. These movements are effective and, even better, they don’t require any equipment. So have a session in your living room, meet your partner at the park, or make use of your driveway.
Keep your gear handy on the go
Store a spare bag of workout clothes in your car or at your desk at work. It’ll be a lot harder to leave your partner hanging when you have everything that you need.
Work out with your partnerFor some workout partners, it’s just a meeting up at the gym and then going separate ways to exercise. While the motivation and accountability of meeting up is great, take it one step further – do the same movements at the same time. This will help motivate you to push harder, especially when you’re feeling tired.
Hold each other accountableResearch shows that working out with a partner is a great way to stay motivated. So do your part. Don’t let your partner skip a workout or set because they don’t feel like doing it. Encourage them to push through. And give them a reason to try their best by trying your best. They’ll thank you for it after.
Talk to each other about your goalsSaying a goal out loud and sharing with your partner can be just the motivation you need to achieve it. You’ll be able to push your partner toward their goal and vice versa. When you feel like your partner has made strides toward their goal, celebrate their success. The little milestones along the way and the positivity in your partnership can be beneficial to your success.
Set partner goalsThis can be anything from working out four days a week or running a local race. These shared goals will strengthen your partnership and help you make additional strides toward your personal goals.
